Open Settings at the top of the home screen and tap Add a reminder under Reminders. You can have up to three daily reminders, each with its own time, its own text and its own on/off switch.
Add a reminder
- On the home screen, tap Settings at the top.
- Under Reminders, tap Add a reminder.
- Pick a time on the clock and tap OK. The reminder is added and switched on. It shows its time, for example 9:00 AM (or 09:00 if your phone uses 24-hour time), with its text under it.
- On Android 13 or newer, your phone asks whether Steady may send notifications. Tap Allow. Without this, reminders can't appear.
If you set a reminder in the first-run steps (Daily reminder, then Remind me every day), it's already here as your first reminder, with the default text.
Repeat to add a second or third reminder. When you have three, Settings shows "You can have up to 3 reminders."
Change a reminder
- Time: tap Change time, pick a new time and tap OK. Changing the time also switches the reminder on.
- Text: tap Edit text, type what you'd like the notification to say and tap Done. Leave it empty to go back to the default, "Time for your Steady session". The text is one line, up to 60 characters.
- On or off: use the reminder's switch, or tap its time. An off reminder stays in the list, so you can switch it back on later.
- Delete: tap Delete. The reminder is removed and won't come again.
What a reminder looks like
- The notification shows your reminder's text, or "Time for your Steady session" if you haven't changed it. Tap it to open Steady.
- The public version of the notification says only "Steady". Android shows it on the lock screen when your phone is set to hide sensitive notification content. With other lock screen settings, your phone may show the reminder's text instead, so choose text you're comfortable with. Your phone's lock screen settings are under Settings, then Notifications (names vary between phones).
- Each reminder comes every day at its time, including days when you've already done a session.
- Reminders keep working after you restart your phone, after Steady updates and after you change the time or time zone.
- A reminder can arrive a few minutes after its time, because Android groups reminders to save battery.
Your reminder times and text are stored only on this phone. See Where is my Steady data kept?
If you set a reminder before this update
Your existing daily reminder is kept as your first reminder, with the same time and on/off state, and the default text.
Troubleshooting
The switch is on, but no reminder appears
Steady may not be allowed to send notifications, for example if you tapped Don't allow earlier. The switch still shows as on, but Android won't show the reminder. Open your phone's Settings, go to Apps, then Steady, then Notifications, and turn notifications on. Menu names vary a little between phones. If there's a separate Daily reminder category on that screen, make sure it's on too.
Reminders stop coming on some days
Some phones hold back apps' reminders to save battery. If that happens, look for Steady in your phone's battery settings and let it run without restrictions.
The reminder comes late
A delay of a few minutes is expected. Steady doesn't use exact alarms, so Android can move the reminder a little to save battery.
