Tap Settings (the gear icon at the top of the home screen). Every switch and option in Steady is there, in six sections: Training, Reminders, Appearance, Privacy, Purchases and About. Tap the back arrow at the top to return to the home screen.
Training
- Sound cues: a short, quiet tone at each phase change.
- Vibration cues: a vibration at each phase change.
- Pocket mode: vibration only, so you can follow a session with the screen off. While it's on, the two switches above are greyed out, and Sound cues says "Sound is off while pocket mode is on." See How to use pocket mode.
- Voice cues: "Says each step out loud with a voice stored on this phone." When it's on, Steady says the phase word, for example "Squeeze" or "Relax", as each phase starts. It's off to begin with. Steady uses only a text-to-speech voice that's stored on your phone and needs no internet connection. If your phone has none for English, the switch stays off and says No offline voice on this phone. While pocket mode is on, the switch is greyed out and says "Voice is off while pocket mode is on." You can also switch it during a session with Voice on / Voice off at the top of the session screen. It's the same setting.
- How to do it: "The steps again, with a short practice." It opens the steps for each squeeze and Try 3 practice squeezes. The practice isn't added to your history. See How to do it: the squeeze, step by step.
You chose sound and vibration the first time you opened Steady. You can change them here at any time.
Reminders
Add up to three daily reminders, each with its own time, text and switch. Each reminder has Change time, Edit text and Delete. See How to set daily reminders.
Appearance
Choose how Steady looks:
- System default: follows your phone's light or dark setting. This is the starting choice.
- Light: always light.
- Dark: always dark.
The change shows straight away.
Privacy
- Hide Steady in recent apps preview: when it's on, your phone's app switcher shows a blank card for Steady instead of the screen. This needs Android 13 or newer. On older versions, the option is greyed out and says so.
- Discreet widget: "Shows only “Steady · today's session”, with no day or streak." When it's on, the home-screen widget shows nothing but that line. It's off to begin with, and the widget changes as soon as you switch it. See How to add the Steady widget to your home screen.
- Privacy notice: a short summary of what Steady stores and where. Tap Close to go back. See Where is my Steady data kept?
Purchases
- Steady Pro: while you don't have Pro, it says All training plans and opens the Steady Pro screen. Pro also unlocks days 8 to 28 of Steady 28 and Your routines. Once you have Pro, it says Active on this phone.
- Restore purchases: checks Google Play again for a Pro purchase on your Google account.
- Change or cancel in Google Play: opens your Steady subscription in the Play Store.
See How to subscribe, cancel or restore Steady Pro.

The notice about what Steady is, shown in full: "Steady is a personal exercise trainer and diary.
