How to set a daily goal
A daily goal is the number of sessions you'd like to do each day, from 1 to 6. It's off to begin with, and Steady never suggests a number. If you set one, the home screen and the widget show how many you've done today, for example 2 of 3 today, and your reminders know when you've reached it. The daily goal is free.
Set your goal
- On the home screen, tap Settings at the top.
- Under Goal and streak, find the Daily goal field. While it's empty, it says "Off. Type a whole number from 1 to 6, or leave it empty."
- Type a whole number from 1 to 6. It's saved as you type: there's no button to tap.
With a number in it, the field says "Sessions a day. Clear it to turn the daily goal off." The field starts empty. Steady doesn't fill in a number, and it doesn't call any number better than another. The number is yours. If you type something else, it says "Use a whole number from 1 to 6."
Turn it off
Clear the number in the Daily goal field. The field says "Off" again, and the home screen, the widget and your reminders go back to how they were without one.
What changes with a goal
- Home screen: a plain count of today's sessions, for example 2 of 3 today. It looks the same whether or not you've reached your goal. With TalkBack on, it reads "2 of 3 sessions today".
- Widget: the same count. The discreet widget still shows only "Steady · today's session". See How to add the Steady widget to your home screen.
- Reminders: until you reach your goal, a reminder has a second line with how many sessions are left today, for example 2 left today. With Skip reminders once today is done on, today's reminders stop once you reach it. See How to set daily reminders.
- Your streak: a day still counts in your streak once you finish one session, whatever your goal. See How does my streak work?
- History doesn't change. It shows the sessions you did, not how they compare with your goal.
What counts
- A session counts when its last round ends: any session, any Steady 28 day or one of your routines. A session that ends early doesn't count.
- The 3 practice squeezes in How to do it don't count.
- The count starts again at midnight, by your phone's clock.
Your goal is stored only on this phone, like your other settings. See Where is my Steady data kept?
Troubleshooting
The count didn't go up after a session
Only finished sessions count: the last round has to end. A session that ends early, for example because you tapped End session, pressed Back or a call came in, isn't recorded.
I reached my goal and still got a reminder
Check that Skip reminders once today is done is on, in Settings, under Reminders. While it's off, every reminder comes at its time.
